Ooooooh baby. I tried as hard as I could to avoid clicking into photos and videos before Eurovision started. I wanted to be amazed and purely entertained.
Let’s start off with the most important thing: Italy is absolutely crushing the hosting of this competition. That stage with the waterfall is perfection. Talk about adding drama to every entry.
And we get MIKA! That blue suit *fans self*. He is a treasure. What a fantastic host.
And oh lord this set by Benny Benassi, Dardust, and Sophit & The Giants. They even gave a nod to the great Argento and Tenebrae. The Dance of Beauty was *chef’s kiss*.
If Italy wins again, we sure know they can provide one hell of an entertaining Eurovision.
The Songs
As I talked about in my Semi-final 1 Preview, here is who I thought should have went through before seeing the show in no particular order:
1. Albania
2. Lithuania
3. Ukraine
4. Moldova
5. Latvia
6. Netherlands
7. Portugal
8. Slovenia
9. Iceland
10. Armenia
I was shocked to see that 7 of my favorites from before the show made it through.
As the show happened, I changed my mind as to who I enjoyed. My points are always about a mix of both the song and the performance. Here are my points:
12 Points: Moldova
10 Points: Ukraine
8 Points: Iceland
7 Points: Armenia
6 Points: Latvia
5 Points: Lithuania
4 Points: Netherlands
3 Points: Albania
2 Points: Norway
1 Point: Portugal
8 of my countries receiving points made it through last night! I was completely gutted for both Albania and Latvia. They performed so well, and it is a shame they did not make it through.
Just for fun … let’s take a look at my husband’s points:
12 Points: Moldova
10 Points: Ukraine
8 Points: Netherlands
7 Points: Albania
6 Points: Bulgaria
5 Points: Iceland
4 Points: Austria
3 Points: Norway
2 Points: Lithuania
1 Point: Armenia
Of his points, 7 made it.
I am ahead by 1 pick going into Semi-final 2. It will be interesting to see how my semi 2 predictions fare on Thursday.
